Crafting a Natural Legacy
The Estate
An authentic sense of place is a trait of all great wines. King Estate’s singular location and unique ecosystem make it ideally suited for producing world-class wines.
Trusting Nature to Lead the Way
We are here as guides; human intervention is minimal as we nurture the rich bounty that nature has provided. The Estate itself is an integrated ecosystem of vineyard and woodland, grasslands and wetlands, orchards, berries, and culinary gardens. Included is a 1,000-ton compost production utilized for Biodynamic preparations. Our vision for sustainability is core to our mission. Our long-time certified organic status led us to adopt the Biodynamic standard in 2016. Today we are proud to be North America’s largest certified Biodynamic vineyard.
Our vision for sustainability is core to our mission.
Remote Locale, Breathtaking Beauty
Surrounding the Estate, you’ll see rugged mountains and hills, and dramatic, inspiring vistas. Northern Harriers, Hovering Kestrels, and Great Horned Owls choose to live at King Estate. We have bear, elk, and cougar roaming the grounds — it’s a pleasure to share these lands, which remain naturally and wildly alive.
Situated on 1,033 acres southwest of Eugene in the Willamette Valley, King Estate is a working farm with 465 acres “under vine,” or planted with grapes, including 143 acres of pinot noir, 314 acres of pinot gris, with the balance in muscat, gewürztraminer and other varietals. Another 26 acres feature greenhouses, vegetables, berries, lavender, flowers, beehives, and a 14-acre orchard with apple, pear and plum trees.
King Estate is home to Northern Harriers, Hovering Kestrels, and Great Horned Owls.
Willamette Valley
As much as one-third to one-half of the grapes used to make King Estate Willamette Valley wines come from our estate-grown, certified Biodynamic fruit. The remainder is sourced from a careful selection of like-minded sustainably farmed vineyards throughout the AVA. Our winemakers keep these vineyards lots separate before making the final blends, ultimately creating a wine that showcases the beautiful spectrum of the Willamette Valley’s growing regions.
