2023 King Estate Havlin Gruner Veltliner
-
Tasting Notes
-
The wine begins with an appealing nose of citrus, lemon, apricot, white peach, green apple, white pepper, honey and a touch of tarragon. A backbone of minerality is balanced with flavors of white peach, lemon, apricot, casaba melon, stone, green apple and dandelion. Light and refreshing, this is an extremely quenching, versatile wine that pairs well with a wide variety of foods.

Vineyard Notes
-
Havlin Vineyard is located in Dallas, Oregon, just outside of Salem, where grapes thrive in the site’s cool climate and marine-sediment soils. The name, Grüner Veltliner, is a combination of the German word for green and a town in northern Italy, Valtellina, where the grape is thought to have originated. Grüner Veltliner is the national grape of Austria, which produces 75% of the world’s crop. Very little is grown in Oregon, making this wine a rare treat.
