2022 King Estate Steiner Block Pinot Gris
-
Tasting Notes
-
Citrus aromatics of lemon, lime and grapefruit greet the nose, along with notes of stone fruit, honeysuckle and wet stone. A soft entry opens up to a refreshingly bold fruit palate that boasts flavors of green apple, pear, lemon, nectarine, freshly cut grass, wet stone and honeysuckle. Acidity melts into the fruit to carry through to a satisfying finish.

Vineyard Notes
-
An estate-grown Pinot Gris, Steiner Block derives its name from Rudolf Steiner, the founder of the Biodynamic® approach to agriculture. King Estate has been certified Biodynamic since 2016, the largest vineyard in North America to earn this designation. From a single block on the vineyard, this wine is a beautiful expression of the terroir that is uniquely King Estate. The wine was fermented and aged in our concrete “egg” vessel for added complexity, texture and enhanced minerality.

Winemaker Notes
-
Fruit was whole cluster pressed, settled, racked and fermented in 100% concrete to dryness. Aged in concrete egg for eight months on the lees with weekly bâtonnage, or stirring.
