2022 King Estate Domaine Pinot Noir
-
Tasting Notes
-
Fruit for this wine comes from six vineyard blocks. Clones are Pommard, Mount Eden, and three Dijon clones (113, 115 and 777). Aromas on the nose are elegant and complex, evoking notes of dark cherry, bramble berry, Pacific wild forest, purple violet, leather, cigar box, cedar, rose and spice. A bold, spicy front palate shows more dark fruit flavors – blackberry coulis, black cherry, red plum, blueberry – with a hint of toasty sweet oak. Bright fruit and bright acidity evolve into a beautifully complex blend.

Vineyard Notes
-
Domaine Pinot Noir is made exclusively from organic and Biodynamic® grapes from our estate vineyard. Our cool climate is especially well suited for growing the delicate Pinot Noir grape for which Oregon is best known. Light and elegant and made in classic Burgundian style, the Domaine label represents the best of the best of what King Estate has to offer.

Winemaker Notes
-
Whole clusters were destemmed and cold soaked for 48 hours with daily pump overs. Some whole clusters were left intact in select lots for additional complexity. Prior to fermentation, 10% of juice was bled off using the Saignée method for further concentration of flavor and color. The wine was fermented to dryness in a stainless steel open top tank with twice daily punch downs and secondary fermentation in barrel. Aged 18 months in French oak, 30% new.
