Tasting Notes

Classic Pinot Gris flavors of pear and lemon zest are accented by notes of wet stone, white peach and clove. The overall mouthfeel is bold, brimming with fruit flavors that are balanced with crisp acidity. Fruitiness and minerality alternate on the palate, ending in a note of spiciness that leads to a lingering finish.

Vineyard Notes

Located in the southeast section of the vineyard, Steiner Block was planted in 1992 and is among the oldest blocks on the estate. The name is a tribute to Rudolf Steiner, the founder of the Biodynamic® approach to agriculture. This Pinot Gris is certified Biodynamic for both the agricultural and winemaking processes. Our winemakers fermented and aged this wine in our concrete “egg” vessel for added complexity, texture and enhanced minerality.

Winemaker Notes

Grapes are hand harvested and whole cluster pressed. This wine was fermented 100% in our concrete “egg” vessel. Aged sur lie in egg for eight months with weekly battonâge.
