Tasting Notes
-
The nose on this wine lives up to the clone’s reputation for aromatics, with sweet and savory notes combining in a bewitching bouquet. Breathe in and discover hints of bramble berry, black cherry, tobacco box, Douglas fir, earthen forest, gardenia, herb sachet, citrus flower, toast and caramel. The palate is bold and well integrated, revealing layers of flavors – blackberry, black cherry, spicy clove, citrus fruit and caramel – as the wine unfolds. The wine is complex and structured with a satisfying finish.

Vineyard Notes
-
Made from clone 777, this estate-grown Pinot Noir practically named itself. Blackjack Pinot Noir is made with Biodynamic® grapes from three blocks on our estate: 21H and 21C in the higher-elevation north and 4D in the lower-elevation south. 777 is a classic clone known for its pretty aromatics, dark-colored grape skins and fruit-forward flavors.

Winemaker Notes
-
Whole clusters were destemmed and subjected to a 48-hour cold soak with daily pump overs. Four percent of the juice was bled off using the Saignée method for further concentration of flavor and color. Fermentation was in stainless steel open top tanks with daily punch downs, with malolactic fermentation in barrel after completion of primary. Aged 18 months in French oak barrels, 38% new.
