Tasting Notes

Red fruit aromas and flavors of strawberry, raspberry, cherry, plum and pomegranate are offset by the earthy notes of graphite, tea and forest floor to create the classic characteristics so prized in Oregon Pinot Noir. Subtle nuances of fruit, eucalyptus and rose emerge on the palate, leading to a lingering and satisfying finish.

Vineyard Notes

Meet King James, the newest addition to the King Estate portfolio but carrying a time-honored name with deep roots in family (and English) history. With many family members named King or James or both, calling our latest Pinot Noir King James seemed a fitting tribute to our commitment to family as one of our founding principles. James is a noble name for a distinguished wine that showcases sourcing from our best Willamette Valley Pinot Noir vineyards.

Winemaker Notes

Whole clusters are destemmed and subjected to a 72-hour cold soak with daily pump overs. In select lots whole clusters are left intact for added complexity. During fermentation, 10% of juice is bled off using the Saignée method. Fermentation is in stainless steel open top tanks with daily punch downs. Aged 10 months in 25% French oak.
