Tasting Notes

Made with 100% Biodynamic® grapes from our own estate, this wine earned 91 points from Wine Enthusiast. On the nose, fruit notes of honeydew, orange blossom, apple, pineapple and lemon oil are joined by jasmine, honey and damp slate. With Pinot Gris dominant in the blend, the entrance is crisp and clean. Roundness builds on the mid-palate as the other three varieties emerge, showing luscious fruit and fresh jasmine. The finish is classic King Estate with acidity that continues to build, leading to notes of fresh key lime pie.

Vineyard Notes

In the Grand Cru vineyards of Alsace, the French government requires that wines be made from the “noble grapes”: Pinot Gris, Riesling, Muscat and Gewürztraminer. King Estate's cool climate creates perfect growing conditions for these four noble grapes and pays tribute to the beautiful wines of Alsace. King Estate Winery is certified by Demeter USA as the largest Biodynamic vineyard in the United States and has been certified organic since 2002. The large daily temperature swings of up to 35 degrees, for which western Oregon is known, serve to enhance flavor development in grapes and balance acidity levels. Elevations range from 700 to just over 1,100 feet with varying slope facings.

Winemaker Notes

The fruit was whole cluster pressed, then cool fermented in stainless steel and fermented with native yeast. Aged sur lie for six months in stainless steel tanks.
