2017 King Estate Just Shy Pinot Noir
-
Tasting Notes
-
The nose reveals notes of cranberry, forest floor, dry tea leaves, rose petals, strawberry and light toast. Bracing, austere acidity on the entrance bursts with more cranberry and tea. On the mid-palate, lean tannins build, creating roundness and volume. The finish is delicate and elegant where flavors of earth and strawberry linger.

Vineyard Notes
-
This Estate grown Biodynamic® wine comes from one of our vineyards’ highest points, Block 19G, which is “Just Shy” of 1,200 feet. Rarely does one get to experience wine from Dijon clone 113. Often found in a blend, this elegant Pinot Noir known for its perfume aromatics deserves to stand on its own.

Winemaker Notes
-
Whole clusters are hand sorted and destemmed. Must is subjected to a 72 hour cold soak with daily pump overs. For further concentration of flavor and color, 10% of juice is bled off the red wine during fermentation using the Saignée method. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel open top tanks with daily punch downs. Aged in French oak barrels for 19 months, 30% new.
