2015 King Estate Nicholas Pinot Noir
-
Tasting Notes
-
Ruby red in the glass, notes of Bing cherry, rhubarb pie, tobacco leaf, violets, cigar box, lightly roasted coffee and cranberry greet the nose. Flavors of ripened plum, dark cherry and leather follow. A bright and silky start is followed by an elegant mid-palate. The finish is lush and balanced.

Vineyard Notes
-
Nicholas Vineyard near Newberg, Oregon, is in the Chehalem Mountain sub-AVA at between 350 and 650 feet in elevation. With just 33 acres under vine, Nicholas features Laurelwood soils. Unusual for the area, the soils consist of windblown loess over a well-drained, volcanic foundation. Praised for their reliable, high quality fruit, Nicholas Vineyard consistently harmonizes fresh fruit flavors like ripened plum and dark cherry with a core of bright acidity and lush, lingering tannins.
