Tasting Notes

Showing a deep garnet color in the glass, this decadent Pinot Noir is intensely aromatic with a bouquet of ripe raspberries and plums, rounded by sweet oak, black tea and clove. The palate is lush, showing dark fruit flavors like black cherry and blackberry, framed by delicious notes of dark chocolate and vanilla bean. This has an excellent finish with fleshy tannins and balanced acidity.

Vineyard Notes

Established in 1981, Freedom Hill Vineyard is located in the foothills of Oregon's Coast Range just south of Dallas, Oregon. The Bellpine ocean floor soils provide a perfect match with our Pacific Northwest growing conditions. The 2015 vintage marks King Estate’s return to sourcing from this renowned vineyard. Made with clone 667, this Pinot Noir is known for its “Christmas spice” aromas and flavors leaning toward dark cherry and raspberry.

Winemaker Notes

The fruit was cold soaked for 48 hours with daily pump overs, then fermented in a stainless steel open top tank with twice daily punch downs. Aged 12 months in French oak barrels, 35% new.
