Tasting Notes

A deep crimson in the glass, the wine begins with a deliciously jammy nose of dark berry fruit such as marionberry and boysenberry, joined by sweet notes of lilac, rose, anise, cedar chest and tobacco. On the palate the wine is flavorful and succulent, framed by a graceful balance of fruit, silky tannins and acidity. A velvety softness continues through the finish.

The Soldier is an alluring blend of fruit from esteemed sites in the Columbia Valley AVA. As the name suggests, this wine can be counted on to consistently deliver on its promise of complex flavors, high quality and exceptional value. The Soldier is authentically produced and meticulously crafted to exacting standards, made with dedication and care.

Winemaker Notes

Whole clusters were destemmed and cold soaked for 48 hours with daily pump overs. Fermentation was in stainless steel open top tanks with daily punch downs. For optimum flavor, the wine underwent délestage, also known as rack and return, followed by extended maceration. Aged 24 months in French and American oak, 36% new.
