Tasting Notes

In the glass this wine is crimson with brick hues. The nose is a generous profusion of cassis, blueberry, leather, cocoa powder, espresso, slate, pipe tobacco and plum. A rich, round start is followed by chewy and yet dusty tannins that linger throughout the mid-palate. Flavors are blueberry, fresh cherries, rose water, cocoa nibs, dust and baking spices. Balanced acidity brings out fresh red fruit flavors while dusty tannins continue to the finish.

Vineyard Notes

Bacchus Vineyard is a part of the Sagemoor Group of vineyards, established in eastern Washington in 1968. As a leading source of old-vine fruit, Bacchus Vineyard fruit is in high demand. Planted in 1972, there are more than 35 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon on the property. This wine features the dark fruit, chocolate and coffee elements that are characteristic of a fine Cabernet Sauvignon.

Winemaker Notes

The fruit was cold soaked for 48 hours with daily pump overs, then fermented in a stainless steel open top tank with twice daily punch downs. Aged 25 months in French oak, 42% new.
