2019 King Estate Johnson School Pinot Gris
-
Tasting Notes
-
Ripe aromas of fresh peach, lime zest, jasmine, damp slate and pear greet the nose. The entrance is silky and round, with acidity showing in the background. Fruit flavors of peach, honeydew, pear and nectarine are joined by hints of jasmine, white pepper and pineapple. The mid-palate displays great depth with focused acidity. All this comes together for a balanced and complex wine with a delicate finish.

Vineyard Notes
-
Johnson School Vineyard has grown Pinot Gris for King Estate since 2009. This is the second year in a row we are featuring fruit from Johnson School as a standalone vineyard designate wine. One goal of the vineyard designate program is to show how different sites and growing conditions can affect flavor profiles of the finished wine. Sitting at 265 feet, this lower elevation site in the Chehalem Mountains is a warmer growing site than ours, producing a riper style of Pinot Gris.
