2018 King Estate Paradox Pinot Gris
-
Tasting Notes
-
King Estate’s only barrel-aged Pinot Gris is made with 100% Biodynamic® grapes from our own estate. The wine starts off bright and crisp, with peach, apricot and guava evident on the entrance. Weight and body increase on the mid-palate. New oak brings out spice notes like nutmeg and at the same time enhances the pre existing flavors and aromas of the wine. Wine & Spirits Magazine gave this wine 91 points, naming it one of the Willamette Valley’s year’s best Pinot Gris.

Vineyard Notes
-
This artisanal small-batch wine was crafted in the spirit of exploration and inquiry. Should oak never touch even a drop of great Pinot Gris? Or should we never say never? For King Estate, which has become synonymous with un-oaked Pinot Gris, this wine is a contradiction – a paradox.

Winemaker Notes

Fermentation was temperature controlled in tanks of 100% stainless steel. Aged in 100% new French oak barrels for three months followed by sur lie aging for five months.
