2017 King Estate Temperance Hill Pinot Noir
-
Tasting Notes
-
The nose reveals enticing aromas of forest floor, dry rose petals, raspberry, black cherry and cigar box. Up front there is great depth with bright red fruit flavors of raspberry, cherry and plum, joined by forest floor, rose water, baking spices, toast and truffle. Notes of flowers and baking spices appear on the mid-palate as tannins balance with acidity and continue to lengthen for a lingering finish.

Vineyard Notes
-
One of the higher elevation vineyards in the Willamette Valley, the world renowned Temperance Hill Vineyard has established a reputation for excellence. This sustainably grown vineyard has been carefully cared for by Dai Crisp since 1999, yielding fruit that lends itself to elegant, complex wines. This Pinot Noir is no exception, with earthen notes of blackberry and truffle.

Winemaker Notes
-
Whole clusters are destemmed then subjected to a 48-hour cold soak with daily pump overs. For further concentration of flavor and color, 10% of juice is bled off the red wine during fermentation using the Saignée method. Fermentation is in stainless steel open top tanks with daily punch downs. Aged in French oak barrels for 19 months, 50% new.
