2016 King Estate Weinbau Merlot
-
Tasting Notes
-
Dark crimson in the glass, the first impression on the nose is of plum along with anise, sage, coffee and cocoa powder. Sweet oak flavors from 21 months aging in new French oak barrels are detectable on the palate. Rich and full-bodied, this wine shows big tannins that create structure and length. Enjoy now through 2028.

Vineyard Notes
-
Located in the Wahluke Slope sub-AVA of the greater Columbia Valley AVA, Weinbau's south-facing alluvial slope consists of perfectly draining soils. The vineyard experiences moderate temperatures that help elongate hang time with ideal ripening conditions. The Kennewick silt loam soils consistently impart distinct Merlot characteristics like blackberry, cocoa and ripe plum.
