Tasting Notes
-
Summer fruit of strawberry and raspberry is offset by more savory notes of truffle, earth and tobacco leaves. Light bodied up front, with round, supple tannins on the mid-palate, the wine is elegant and balanced with a rich and lingering finish.

Vineyard Notes
-
King Estate has been making Pinot Noir from Hyland Vineyard in the foothills of the Coast Range since 2010. Planted in 1971, Hyland is one of Oregon’s oldest vineyards. It sits at 600 feet in elevation on a rolling hillside surrounded by fir trees. The vineyard features Pinot Noir grown on Jory soil, consistently providing fruit with wonderful dark cherry flavors. Single vineyard wines offer a snapshot of a wine's time and place. This Pinot Noir beautifully captures the characteristics of Hyland Vineyard.

Winemaker Notes
-
Whole clusters are destemmed then subjected to a 48-hour cold soak with daily pump overs. For further concentration of flavor and color, 10% of juice is bled off the red wine during fermentation using the Saignée method. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel open top tanks with daily punch downs. The wine underwent full malolactic fermentation in barrel after completion of primary fermentation. Aged 14 months in French oak barrels, 25% new.
