Tasting Notes
-
The four clones comprising this wine are 777 (40%), 667 (29%), Pommard (16%) and 115 (15%). The nose is fragrant with cherry, strawberry-rhubarb pie, cigar box, mint, cassis, violets and earth. After a bright and silky start, fruit flavors characteristic of Nicholas Vineyard Pinot Noir are revealed – cherry pie, raspberry, strawberry, tobacco leaf, violets, sweet French oak and leather. The mid-palate showcases elegance and finesse. The finish is a perfect balance of fruit, earth, acidity and tannins with generous length.

Vineyard Notes
-
Nicholas Vineyard near Newberg, Oregon, is in the Chehalem Mountains AVA at an elevation between 350 and 650 feet. With just 33 acres under vine, Nicholas features Laurelwood soils. Unusual for the area, the soils consist of windblown loess over a well-drained, volcanic foundation. Praised for their reliable, high quality fruit, Nicholas Vineyard consistently harmonizes fresh fruit flavors like ripened plum and dark cherry with a core of bright acidity and lingering tannins.
