Vineyard Notes
-
Grown at 1,000 feet in elevation on Block 21A on our estate vineyard, this semi-sweet Muscat is 100% certified Biodynamic®. King Estate is situated on primarily two kinds of soil: Bellpine, a marine sedimentary soil formed when Oregon was under the sea more than 12 million years ago; and Jory, a volcanic soil created from lava flows that also date back millions of years. Both Bellpine and Jory soils provide good drainage with moderate water retention and are not especially fertile, unlike the lush Willamette Valley fields below. As it happens, the less fertile, well-draining soil is exactly what grapevines like.

Winemaker Notes
-
Fruit was whole cluster pressed, cold settled for 72 hours and racked. It was cool fermented using native yeast in stainless steel. Fermentation was arrested early to retain the grape’s natural residual sugar. Aged six months sur lie in stainless steel tanks.
