Tasting Notes

The grapes are 100% Biodynamic from the estate on Block 19. This site is one of the coolest and highest elevation sites in the Willamette Valley. On the dry side, this Gewürztraminer greets the nose with hints of honeysuckle, spicy clove and wet stone along with fruit notes of honeydew, apple and mango. On the entrance additional flavors of lychee and lemon zest are revealed. Round and balanced in the mouth, the wine finishes long and dry.

Vineyard Notes

King Estate Winery is certified by Demeter USA as the largest Biodynamic vineyard in the United States and has been certified organic since 2002. King Estate is situated on primarily two kinds of soil: Bellpine, a marine sedimentary soil and Jory, a volcanic soil. The large daily temperature swings of up to 35 degrees, for which western Oregon is known, serve to enhance flavor development in grapes and balance acidity levels. Elevations range from 700 to just over 1,100 feet with varying slope facings.

Winemaker Notes

Twelve hours of skin contact in the press gives this wine added varietal character. Fermented in stainless steel tanks after 12 hours of skin contact in the press. Sur lees aged for 6 months in stainless steel tanks.
