Tasting Notes

The nose is greeted by aromas of fresh strawberries, candied raspberries, forest floor, graham cracker, clove, wet stone and rose petal. On the palate, discover flavors of raspberries, baking spices, rose water, strawberries, sweet oak and a hint of caramel. Up front the tannins are round and velvety, growing more focused and increasing in volume on the mid-palate. Balanced acidity and tannins lengthen the wine for an elegant finish.

Vineyard Notes

Sourced from Block 11A on our own estate, this wine is truly a family affair. This is the first wine made from start to finish by a third-generation family member, Justin King. The grandson and son of King Estate Winery co-founders Ed King, Jr., and Ed King III, Justin tended the vines and harvested the fruit from seven rows near the heart of the vineyard before teaming up with our winemakers to carefully craft this outstanding Pinot Noir. The distinctive red label was designed by Justin and his brother Taylor, using the vineyard tag as inspiration.

Winemaker Notes

The grapes underwent a 48-hour cold soak with daily pump overs. Native fermentation occurred in a stainless steel open top tank with daily pump overs with 20% of grapes fermented as whole clusters. Aged sur lie for 15 months in 33% new French oak barrels, stirred weekly. Unfined and unfiltered, this wine saw minimal intervention throughout the process. Made from 100% Biodynamic® grapes.
